Injectables

Injectables can fill in lines, restore loss of volume, contour facial folds and increase collagen production. A younger, fuller and natural appearance can be recreated by decreasing the prominence of nasolabial folds, increasing the fullness of the lips, erasing vertical lip lines, softening the chin, highlighting the cheekbones, decreasing the appearance of jowls and correcting hollowed or puffy eyes, sunken cheeks and depressed temples.

Restylane and Perlane®

Temporary fillers that restores fullness to the skin and reduces the appearance of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, creating a smoother, more youthful appearance. Restylane® is the world's most used, most studied dermal filler, and has been used in over 70 countries and in more than 1.4 million treatments in the U.S.

Restylane® and Perlane®. are made of NASHA, a non-animal derived hyaluronic acid in a crystal clear injectable gel. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in the body that attracts water to add supple volume to the skin. No allergy testing is necessary. Restylane® is especially effective for restoring fullness to and softening lines around the lips, and improving nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Results can last for about 6 months. Dr. Linder will guide the decision on which of these effective fillers is best for your specific needs.

Dr. Linder started using Restylane® in 1999 while practicing in Switzerland, and was excited to start using it in the United States when it was FDA-approved in December 2003.

Sculptra™

Known as the liquid facelift, Sculptra™ received FDA approval in 2004 “to restore and/or correct the signs of facial fat loss….” It was first approved in Europe to fill creases and wrinkles, and has been safely used in more than 150,000 patients in 30 countries.

Sculptra™ is a synthetic, biodegradable lactic acid polymer that restores lost volume in the face by increasing the thickness of the skin with new collagen production. The results are similar to autologous fat grafting, however Sculptra™ can be used in patients with very little fat where surgical fat harvesting is not possible. This compound has been used in dissolvable sutures for more than 40 years and does not require skin testing.

Prior to injection, the areas to be treated are numbed with a topical aesthetic cream. Volume is restored gradually over a few weeks as the body forms new collagen. More than one treatment session is usually required to achieve the desired results. Side effects include short-term bruising, redness, mild soreness and slight swelling. Unlike some absorbable fillers that may last only a few months, Sculptra’s effects last for two years and longer with touch ups. Dr. Linder is one of the premier US experts in the use of Sculptra™ and is frequently asked by Dermik, the maker of Sculptra™ to teach other physicians advanced techniques.

Botox® and Botox® Cosmetic

An incredibly effective treatment for the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. Results are evident within days and can last up to four months.

Botox® Cosmetic is the most popular, non-surgical cosmetic procedure performed in the United States. It produces dramatic results giving one a more youthful, rested, and less wrinkled appearance. Frown and forehead lines as well as “crow’s feet” may even disappear. It is also one of the most reasonably priced procedures, ranking 7th in cost among the nine most frequently performed cosmetic facial procedures in the United States.

Botox® Cosmetic is a natural, purified protein which is the result of careful research and testing. Attesting to its safety, it has been used medically to treat a variety of conditions for more than 20 years, including the treatment of muscle spasms in children with cerebral palsy. These children receive treatments of more than five times the cosmetic dose every 8 months for years.

Smile and frown lines or crow’s feet, are caused by the contraction of underlying muscles. Botox® works by limiting the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles thus eliminating or minimizes wrinkles which are caused by repetitive facial expressions, sun and smoking.

It is quick and easy to administer with a few tiny injections causing only minimal discomfort. It is incredibly safe as it remains confined to the area of injection and cannot spread throughout the body. Therefore, the muscles related to other expressions or functions are not affected, keeping patient expressions looking natural.

Botox® has been used medically in over 7 million treatment sessions over the past 20 years and is approved in 70 countries worldwide.

Botox® Cosmetic usually lasts up to four months. As it wears off, your lines will gradually revert to their pretreatment appearance. If you have had Botox® Cosmetic in the past and it didn’t work, or last approximately 3-4 months, it’s possible that you did not receive the proper dosage. There is an art to Botox® and it is important to be treated by a physician who understands the finer points in the use of Botox®.

Botox® for Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating) and Migraines

Botox® is also effective for excessive sweating in any area. The most commonly treated areas are the underarms, palms and feet. Treated patients typically achieve an eighty-nine percent reduction in sweat production. Effects usually last for six months or more.

Many patients with migraines can also be effectively treated with Botox®.
